Defending 2004 Southwest Series Champions Tommy Porfirio and Lou LaDuca start off the 2005 season same way they finished, with victories in the 1/10 Gas Sedan and 1/8 Gas 4wd Open respectively. Tommy dueled with teamate Mikey Umino most of the race until a crash ended Mike's hope for the win. Lou LaDuca pretty much had way with the 1/8 class leading wire to wire. Tommy and Lou both chose 30% Rocket Science to power their cars to victory.
