David Joor wins Round 3 of the Nitro Invitational
(06.23.2005)

The race was held at Johnny Cool Guys and for the first time ever the race was run dry. This allowed a different driving condition and a slight learning curve. Even though the track had been run on for 3 weeks before this event, in round 3 Jason Branham ran the fastest time of the weeked taking TQ with Quincy Hughes taking the 2nd spot in that round. This was the fastest round of the weekend and if you were going to do it, this was the time.
With Jason Branham, Quincy Hughes, David Joor, Jared Bockholt, Tommy Tang, and Kyle Skidmore in the main it was looking like it was going to be a victory for Rocket Science.
The buzzer went and the gate dropped, David Joor took the lead spot with Patrick Holley and Kyle Skidmore all over his bumper. It appeared that Joor's car on fresh tires was a bit tough to drive while Patrick and Kyle looked dead on. 6 laps in Joor wrecked and had to be corner marshalled allowing Patrick and Kyle to get some distance. It took 4 laps or so for Joor to real them back in while they were battling and this was when the true colors of Patrick Holley were displayed. Joor was directly behind Holley and at this time and the edge had worn off his tires and was pushing hard for the lead spot. Holley bobbled in a jump section and Joor had no where to go but to hit him which caused Joor to jump the pipe and loose a lot of time. Holley in the next corner pulled wide and let Joor by because it was his bobble that caused Joor to wreck. This is a sign of true sportsmanship and shows Holleys character that he would rather win the right way. He earned the respect of many, especially Joor. Unfortunately after that display Holley began to have little wrecks here and there allowing Joor to cruise to a victory for the next 20 minutes. In the end Joor lapped the field with a very consistant run and setting fastest laptime of the weekend. Skidmore went out early on with engine troubles and never made it back into battling for postition.
Rocket Science finishes 1st (David Joor), 3rd (Jason Branham), and 4th Jared Bockholt.
